As autumn rolls in, so do the cosy thoughts — yes, it’s that time of year…already! It’s also time to take a little more of a languid, loungey approach to that day to day hustle and grind. Whether you’re on staycation (snug in our goose-down doonas), sliding into a bubble-filled tub, searching for a quirky wedding gift (tis’ the season) or simply searching for some kitschy but nonetheless tasteful trinkets, we’ve got you.
**Drum roll, please** Your go-to guide for all the most excellent but random crap for…Autumn!
P.S. When we say crap we really mean, fabulous…
A spread of butter to burn, from Nonna’s Grocer:
Yes, a butter-shaped, buttery-hued candle. Incredible. The sweetest addition to your bedside/dining room table, the final touch to your soothing rub in the tub and ultimately, a makeshift symbol of top-notch kitchen ambiance. And let’s not ignore that butter dish by Milly Dent — adorable, reusable, multi-functional, a home for REAL butter. P.S Stroll down Eddy Avenue on your way back to the hotel and enter into a tooty-fruity, waxy haven. With all those colourful candles stacked up high, you won’t miss it.

Dinosaur Designs resin anything in ‘Honey’:
Australia’s most iconic resin jewellery and homewares brand (since 1985) have announced the incoming release of a new shade **insert shock and awe face** — HONEY, and we’re here for it. Think, soft, translucent amber that evoke sunlight pouring in — just like liquid gold. The perfect fit for Autumnal dinner parties, supper club occasions and so on. Expect anything from stone servers (a must-have when honouring a classic homemade salad) to a selection of vases — the perfect gifts, if you ask us.

Vintage-inspired and intentionally kitsch tableware from the sisters at Gohar World:
Table setting heaven by famed dinner party master Laila Gohar. Add a touch of doily madness to your dining table with quirky silverware, cutlery rests and egg-chandeliers (yep). In the words of the sisters themselves, these are the curatorial elements for “a dream place where adults wear lace bibs, cauliflowers are candles, and every plate comes with beans”.

Vintage glassware from Glass Etcetera:
Your go-to local in Surry Hills for all things collectable glassware, courtesy of Australia’s premium vintage and antique shop. A mere hop, skip and jump from The Old Clare too…

A seafood dinner at Longshore at The Old Clare Hotel:
This is very important, and very promisingly delicious. Reservations will open in April, stay tuned for Sydney’s finest seafood focused restaurant, at ours. Think small bites to set menus and native ingredients. Autumn dinner destination — check.

Essential oil burners from Maison Balzac:
After a long day, unwind with some essential oils in a beautiful burner from Maison Balzac. May you sink, deeply, into the tub and may those relaxing scents (sandalwood’s our pick) soothe your soul. Mmmmm.

Native botanicals and self-care must-trys from Bush Medijina:
Take care of your skin with natural, Australian-native products from Bush Medijina. Made with all-native ingredients, these products smell incredible —think tangy, earthy notes — not to mention a great way to support an Indigenous-owned, local business. These guys are all produced up north in the Northern Territory.

A visit to White Rabbit Gallery:
Our go-to recommendation and the perfect artful wind down. The latest exhibition centres around tales of mystical beasts, warriors, and immortals, all set to infuse a fine day of exploring with feelings of utter enchantment.
